Go-to Green Smoothie

Spring is finally here in Baltimore! On April 23rd. It's about time.

Warm weather means SMOOTHIE weather! If you follow me on Instagram, then you know it's no secret that I love smoothies. Especially green smoothies. However, the first time I ever tried one, I was really skeptical. It's hard to believe someone telling you that adding a ton of spinach to a drink isn't going to change the taste at all.

But I'm here to tell you it doesn't! And to share my go-to green smoothie recipe. The green smoothie starter kit, if you will. It's really simple and made with ingredients that you most likely already have in your refrigerator. Plus it packs a nutritious punch and tastes like dessert for breakfast. Win, win...right?!

I like to think the secret to the deliciousness is the blending order AND the yogurt. I love Siggi's yogurt and have found that it adds a thickness to my smoothies unlike any other brand. Adding PB2 rather than peanut butter gives the smoothie a much stronger peanut flavor that makes this basically taste like a peanut butter milkshake.

Ingredients

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 1 container plain Siggi's yogurt
  • 2 TBSP PB2
  • 2 cups spinach

Method

  1. Place frozen banana, almond milk, yogurt and PB2 in blender
  2. Blend on high for 2-3 minutes, or until smooth.
  3. Add spinach and blend on high for 30-45 seconds, or until all spinach is completely blended in.
